Welcome to the new web pages of the Landmark Community Foundation.  In them you will find an overview of our work and news of how we are focussing on improving community opportunities for children and young people.  Don't hesitate to contact us to find out how you can help us to meet our goals.

Based in Pleasley, Nottinghamshire, the Charity was founded in 2010 and moved to the Landmark Centre in 2020 to further its work with children, young people and families.  Since its formation, the Charity has become well established for its work with children and families.  Across the East Midlands, it has been particularly recognised for its successful work in delivering its primary objectives of engaging and improving outcomes for young people with additional needs.

In recent years, research has highlighted that additional pressures such as financial hardship, food poverty and post-covid mental health issues in children and young people are impacting a wider cohort and can be a key contributer to poor engagement, self esteem and achievement.  The Charity has quickly identified this as a potential barrier and has developed partnerships with local commerce, community partners and volunteers  to focus specifically on strategies that broadly address family stability during these challenging times.  Doing this will strengthen our strategy in helping to improve the life chances of the children and young people we work with.

Significantly, our experience has highlighted the particular demand for services in the north of Nottinghamshire.  Having an awareness of this, prompted our focus on the impact we can make from an established base and in particular the area served by the Landmark Centre.  This involves creating a truly inclusive environment, working with fellow providers who understand the sensitivities of a stepped approach to the engagement of children with additional needs.

From activity groups to multi generational activities such as the knitting group and board games club and the integration of the "Roots" coffee lounge there's new energy around the Landmark Centre - with young people at the centre of developments.  The improvements made in a short time - having met the challenges of the pandemic - have turned the centre into a first class community destination, following previous years of decline and closure.  It is good to see  young people at the heart of this new growth.
